A 24-year-old Cape Girardeau man was arrested for stealing a purse at a restaurant, police said.

At approximately 9:24 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to a fight in progress at B.G.'s Old Tyme Deli and Saloon at 205 S. Plaza Way. Officers saw a man running from the restaurant and took him into custody.

The man was carrying a purse, Cpl. Kevin Orr said.

A woman at the restaurant told police that she saw the man take her purse and then walk toward the back of the bar before he ran off, Orr said.

David Riley of 1523 Wayne St. was charged in the incident with the class C felony of stealing.

He was released Friday after posting a $7,500 bond, the Cape Girardeau County jail reported.
