Thanks to a sharp-eyed caller, police arrested a man Monday in connection with an apparent attempt to pry open an ATM last month.
Last week, Cape Girardeau police released photographs of the suspect, who they said caused extensive damage during an unsuccessful attempt to open an automated teller machine Nov. 21 at US Bank, 3060 William St.
About 10 a.m. Monday, acting on a tip from someone who called to identify the man, officers arrested him, said Darin Hickey, public information officer for the Cape Girardeau Police Department.
"We were able to take him into custody this morning," Hickey said Monday.
Hickey said the suspect was released pending filing of formal charges.
