SIKESTON, Mo. -- A 34-year-old man who started a six-hour standoff with police Wednesday had nothing to do with the neighborhood shootout that preceded the ordeal, an officer said.

Ronnie Robinson blockaded himself in an arcade he owns in the 100 block of Branum Street after police swarmed the area because he was wanted for two misdemeanor crimes, said Sikeston police Capt. Dan Armour.

In the meantime, police have arrested another man and are seeking a third they think shot at each other with assault rifles in front of the arcade in a dispute over a woman, Armour said.

Kevin R. King, 18, was arrested Thursday on a charge of unlawful use of a weapon. Lloyd Gilmore, 19, is being sought on the same charge. King is in the Sikeston jail on a $50,000 bond.

Police reported that Gilmore and a passenger were driving past the arcade where King was in a Chevrolet Caprice shortly before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Investigators are trying to determine who shot first, but shells from about 30 bullets were found in the street.

When Robinson blockaded himself inside the arcade as an officer attempted to open the door, police assumed the shooter was inside the building, Armour said.

It was not known that Robinson was inside the building until later Wednesday, he said.

Until the standoff ended with Robinson walking out of the building with his hands up, police had no idea how many people might be inside the arcade, said Drew Juden, Sikeston public safety director.

Robinson had been wanted by police for assaulting a law enforcement officer on May 11, said Steve Juergens, Scott County assistant prosecutor. Prior to the assault, he was out of jail on bond for resisting arrest and driving with a suspended license.

Robinson likely won't be charged in the shooting or standoff, Armour said.

A small amount of crack cocaine was found in an office area at the Express Car Wash, which is also owned by Robinson and is adjacent to the arcade. However, so many people visit the car wash, it's uncertain if someone will be charged for drug possession.
