Police - Man kills former girlfriend, then himself

AURORA, Mo. -- A man and his former girlfriend were shot to death and another person was injured Monday in what police said was an apparent murder-suicide.

Robert M. Caldwell, 41, of Aurora, and Carlotta Rickson, 33, of Verona, Mo., were shot at the home where Rickson was staying.

Police Capt. Pat Jenkins said Caldwell went to the home late Monday morning, shot Rickson with a rifle, then shot himself.

A relative of Rickson's was shot in the hand, Jenkins said.

Aurora is in southwest Missouri, about 25 miles southwest of Springfield, Mo.
