SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- A plane made an emergency landing Saturday at Springfield-Branson National Airport, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

The plane, a Trans States Airlines flight, was traveling from Austin, Texas, to St. Louis, when it made the successful emergency landing about 3:27 p.m., FAA spokeswoman Elizabeth Isham Cory said.

"Basically they reported they thought they had smoke in the cockpit, and they landed safely," Cory said.

About 29 people were on board, and all were evacuated safely.

Calls to the airline, a regional carrier based in Bridgeton, Mo., were not immediately returned Saturday.
