Cape Girardeau honored its state basketball champions Tuesday night at Memorial Hall. Grouped around the trophies won this year are team members, coaches and those who spoke at the dinner affair. The trophies, from the right, are The Missourian’s most valuable player award given Paul Stehr, the regional trophy won at Poplar Bluff, the city championship trophy presented by Farmers & Merchants Bank, the state championship trophy and the first place trophy won at the Poplar Bluff invitational tournament. In the photograph, from left, are: Louis Meisenheimer, State College Basketball Coach Ralph Pink, Jack Boswell, Jim Hency, Bob Hunt, Wood McComb, Paul Stehr, C.W. A boy helped his mom clean the paddles from an old-fashioned ice cream freezer. Gladys Smith and Sharon Poole identified the woman in this photo as Mrs. Emma 
Bennett of Scott City. The boy is her son, Robert Bennett.

The Union Bus Depot was  at 16 N. Frederick St. A campaign poster in the window for Robert Hemperley for state representative dates this picture to the early 1960s. The photo was published Aug. 23, 1960. It shows Mrs. Lois Travis and her son, Earl, 8. They were enroute to St. Louis on a St. Louis-Cape bus, and then would change to a Continental Trailways bus to Chicago for the boy's hospital examination. (G.D.
