Matthew Piazzi works as a voice-over artist in New York, and is the son of Southeast Missouri State University voice instructor Judith Farris, a Cape Girardeau native. The New Yorker spent much of his childhood in Cape Girardeau. His talents include comedy, acting, impersonations and playing piano.
Piazzi, who will be featured in a full-length performance tonight for the first time this season, will play piano while doing the celebrity impersonations that got him to the live semifinals of "America's Got Talent." He'll be one of 10 acts performing tonight, five of which will be eliminated in Wednesday's show.
Public voting determines which acts move on, and voting by phone and Internet starts immediately after tonight's show. Last week, Sikeston, Mo., native Neal E. Boyd received enough votes to go to the next round of the competition.
"America's Got Talent" begins at 7 p.m. on NBC. For more information on Piazzi and Boyd, go to semissourian.com/boyd.
