CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Authorities on Sunday released photos of the man suspected of robbing Mississippi County Savings and Loan on Friday.
According the to Charleston Department of Public Safety, the man entered the savings and loan at approximately 2:20 p.m. Friday, brandished a handgun and demanded money. Upon leaving with an undetermined amount of cash, the suspect left behind what he told the teller was a bomb.
Police immediately cordoned off the area after being called to the scene. Charleston police confirmed the suspect had indeed left behind an explosive device, but declined to offer further details. The device was defused and the area declared safe at 9:30 p.m.
The photos, taken from the savings and loan's surveillance cameras, show the suspect at a teller's both.
Officials describe the suspect as a 6'2" white male weighing 190 pounds. He is approximately 55 years old. He was wearing large eyeglasses, a dark blue sports coat, white dress shirt and gray trousers at the time of the robbery.
The suspect was last seen driving away from the scene in a sport utility vehicle, possibly a black Chevrolet Tahoe or Yukon.
