Photographers from all over the United States will exhibit their work in Gallery 100's Photo '94 National Juried Exhibition, which opens today.
The photo competition, sponsored by Southeast Missouri Council on the Arts, will be exhibited in the Gallery 100's new facilities at 1707 Mount Auburn Road. A reception is planned tonight from 5-7 p.m. The display will be open through May 27 from 1-4 p.m. weekdays.
Photo '94 received 210 photographic slides to consider for the exhibit. Judge Richard Lawson selected 51 works by 38 artists from 29 states.
The exhibit includes a Scandanavian wharf-side village, eerie winter scenes, floral compositions, historical pictures, multiple-exposure images, abstract works and character studies about human nature.
"Different films, chemical processing, printing methods and finishing techniques allow photographers more creative expression," said Laura Brothers, administrative assistant at the arts council.
