The photograph depicts the features of the European-style church, including the rounded windows and portals. Charles B. Parsons initiated construction of the church when he developed the mining industry in the area a century ago. Coming from Massachusetts, he resettled in Bonne Terre and became a leader in business and community matters.

Neumeyer writes and takes pictures for the Southeast Missourian. He and his wife, Terri, also operate a bed and breakfast.
