Harry Philip, director of operations for Lone Star's 1.2 million ton cement plant at Cape Girardeau, has been appointed to vice president of manufacturing services for Lone Star Industries, Inc., headquartered at Stamford, Conn.

He will also remain in his present position at the local facility here.

In his new position, Philip will be responsible for providing corporate staff services for engineering, construction and environmental matters. He will also direct the company's programs for compliance with federal and state environmental regulations.

Philip, a graduate of the University of Buffalo, has held various plant engineering and managerial assignments in the cement industry.

Lone Star is a leading producer of cement and ready-mixed concrete, sand, and gravel, crushed stone, and other construction materials.
