Pete Jeffries has been named communications director for U.S. Rep. Bill Emerson.
Jeffries leaves his position as a producer and assignment editor at KFVS-TV in Cape Girardeau after three and a half years.
Jeffries will begin his new duties in Emerson's Washington office Monday. He succeeds Marianna Rowe Deal, who took a position with the public relations firm of Fleishman-Hillard, Inc. in St. Louis.
Jeffries has nearly a decade of experience in radio and television. He recently was cited for the 1990 Associated Press Journalistic Excellence Award for Television.
He holds a journalism/mass communications degree from the University of Iowa.
Emerson said: "I am very pleased that Pete has joined our organization. He brings to the job a wealth of experience and a great deal of knowledge about the Eighth Congressional District of Missouri."
