PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Due to the high threat for fires, the city of Perryville has announced it will postpone its Fourth of July fireworks show to an undetermined date.
The fire danger scale lists the city's threat level as "extreme," which is the highest threat, city administrator Brent Buerck said in a news release.
Perryville Mayor Debbie Gahan said she agrees with the decision.
"As much as we all love celebrating the 4th with fireworks, this is not a year in which we can take the chances that our dry conditions present," Gahan said in a news release.
"I also encourage all citizens and members or our community to support the open burning prohibition and to encourage people not to detonate fireworks," she said in the release.
For more information, contact Buerck at 547-2594.
