HIGHLAND, Mo. -- A Perryville, Mo., man is in serious condition after his Chevrolet struck a vehicle that was stopped on County Road 606 Tuesday evening.

HIGHLAND, Mo. -- A Perryville, Mo., man is in serious condition after his Chevrolet struck a vehicle that was stopped on County Road 606 Tuesday evening.

Around 5:20 p.m. a 2004 Freightliner M2 driven by Terry J. Zeigler, 32, of Perryville had stopped on County Road 606 and was facing west, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said. A 1994 Chevrolet K1500 driven by Ricky J. Hotop, 48, of Perryville then struck the Freightliner in the rear.

Zeigler was not injured, and his vehicle sustained only minor damage. However, the Chevrolet was totaled, and Hotop was taken by ambulance to Perry County Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

Hotop was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, the highway patrol said.
