PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- A new road has been constructed on the Perry County School District campus to ease traffic and safety concerns along Schindler Road, which runs in front of Perryville Elementary School. On a typical school morning, traffic can be backed up for a quarter-mile or more in both directions as parents wait to drop off their children, according to a news release. The project cost $165,000 and Bauman Construction earned the bid. District staff members will be using a separate entrance to reduce the number of cars using the new entrance. The district's first day of student attendance for the 2014-2015 school year is Aug. 14. School starts at 7:55 a.m. at all schools, and will dismiss at 3:15 p.m.
