On April 20, the Perry County Sheriff's Department conducted a checkpoint at Interstate 55 and Route M. Thirteen citations were issued for misdemeanor drug possession violation's, 12 misdemeanor citations for possession of drug paraphernalia and one arrest for felony possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), according to a news release from the sheriff's department. In addition, one person was charged with driving while intoxicated, one for driving while revoked and one for driving without a driver's license. The Perry County Sheriff's Department periodically conducts checkpoints around the county, the news release said.
