PERRYVILLE, Mo. - Voters chose Sue Oster as the new Recorder of Deeds in Perry County. Oster defeated four other candidates for the position, with only a 15-vote margin.
No Democrats filed for the office.
About 37 percent of the county's registered voters cast ballots in the primary race Tuesday.
Oster received 1,015 votes; Beth Guth received 1,000 votes.
Other candidates were Patricia "Trish" Erzfeld with 881 votes; G. Scott Cooper with 398 votes and Joe Van Cloostere with 222 votes.
The recorder of deeds office is a newly-created position in Perry County. Oster is the current deputy recorder.
Perry County residents also voted against both Proposition A and Proposition B.
Proposition A was defeated 2,216 to 977.
Proposition B was defeated 2,593 to 660.
Vote totals were unofficial and included absentee ballots cast.
