PERRYVILLE -- Perry County Memorial Hospital will sponsor an open house on Sunday, Jan. 5 to celebrate the completion of their new "Precious Care Maternity and Newborn Unit."

The maternity wing features the new "labor, delivery, recovery and post partum" concept that many hospitals nationwide have adopted. This concept allows the mother to stay in the same room, from the moment she enters the hospital throughout her stay.

The unit also has three conventional rooms with double beds. Rooming in is available, as well as sibling visitation. Grandparents are allowed to scrub in and hold the infants. Fathers may come and go as they choose.

The open house will run through 3 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
