PERRYVILLE -- Perry County voters will select school board members, aldermen and village trustees when they go to the polls Tuesday.
Missouri holds a municipal election Tuesday with polling places opening at 6 a.m. They close at 7 p.m.
County Clerk Randy Taylor expects a low turnout for the election. Typically, there aren't overwhelming numbers at the polls during municipal elections, he said.
"There is more on the ballot this year with the statewide propositions, and the right-to-carry issue is generating more interest."
Perry County usually has few contested races, but this year is different.
Four people filed for three seats on the Perryville school board. They are Terry L. Miederhoff, Timothy Rhodes, Raymond J. Monier and Kim R. Moore. Miederhoff is seeking re-election for a three-year term. Moore is a former board member.
Also, Perryville voters will choose one alderman in each of three wards. The candidates are Paul Dunlap, Ward 1; Randy J. Leible and Robert G. Keller, Ward 2; and Gary J. Schumber, Ward 3.
In Altenburg, voters will choose two of the four candidates for school board. They are Charles Gerler, Colleen Steffens, Anthony Mengwasser and Rhonda France. Gerler and Steffens are both incumbents.
Altenburg voters also will elect a mayor and two aldermen. Candidates are Thomas Meyer, mayor; Russell Miesner, alderman in Ward 1; and Michael Hughey, alderman in Ward 2.
Frohna's only candidates are Stanley R. Petzoldt for alderman in Ward 1 and Timothy A. Bohnert, alderman in Ward 2.
In Biehle, voters will select two people to fill slots on the village trustee board. Candidates are Kenneth L. Buchheit and Timothy M. Peters.
Longtown voters will elect David Geringer, Keith Trapp Sr. and Brian Stueve as village trustees.
