It was a personal honor for the 38 students who were invited to the People's Choice Awards sponsored by the Renaissance program at Cape Girardeau Central High School.

The awards were presented by Principal Dr. Dan Tallent at the high school auditorium on May 13.

The purpose of the evening was to honor students who had been nominated by school staff members. The Renaissance program, which began this year, recognizes students who excel in academics and attitude. It is sponsored by several area businesses and clubs.

Students who were honored include Dan Barylski, John Bechtold, Ellie Bennett, Tiffany Biggerstaff, Maria Bowers, Erica Bullinger, Joe Clark, Stan Clark, Chasity Collins, Casey Cook, Ed Curry, Meg Davis, Jesse Dunavan, Angie Fornkohl, Jim Cox, Sharla Gaddy, Athena Garden, Elizabeth Green, Emily Hall, James Headrick, Ryan Hendrickson, Christy Hey, Markel Hill, Eric Jausel, Emily Johnson, Shawn Kinder, Bryn McDougall, Jennifer Petzoldt, Matt Roark, Rachel Roberts, Erinn Schermann, Laura Sheets, Natosha C. Smith, Sarah Sterrett, Kristin Tallent, Emily Trueblood, Diandrai Webb and Leah Wessel.

A Principal's Breakfast and ZAP Breakfast were also part of Renaissance activities.
