Julie Hite, 16, a student at Central High School, was recently named in the 2001-2002 edition of Who's Who Among American High School Students.

Hite is the daughter of Jo Ann and Don Sester of Cape Girardeau. She plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University and major in nursing after high school.

Jansen presented award of excellence

Kristy Jansen of Cape Girardeau recently received the 7th Semester Student Award for Overall Excellence from the Sinclair School of Nursing at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Jansen is a 1999 graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School and is the daughter of Mike and Marilyn Jansen of Cape Girardeau.

Mound City student awarded scholarship

Heather Renee Fitzgerald of Mound City, Ill., was recently awarded the Academic Enhancement Program's Second Year scholarship.

She is a sophomore at Shawnee College in Ullin, Ill., and is a member of the Academic Enhancement Program and Alpha Lambda Epsilon chapter of Phi Theta Kappa.

She plans to transfer to Southeast Missouri State University later this year to pursue a degree in pre-optometry.

She is the daughter of Patsy Fitzgerald of Mound City and the granddaughter of Mary Lou and Leon Tomberlin and Gene Stone, all of Mound City.

Amelunke graduates from ITT Institute

Lucas Amelunke of Jackson recently graduated from ITT Technical Institute in Nashville, Tenn., with an associate's degree in electronic engineering technology.-- From staff reports
