Hahs sisters named all-American Scholars
The United States Achievement Academy has announced that Jill and Julie Hahs of Sedgewickville, Mo., have been named All-American Scholars.
The students, who attend Meadow Heights School, are the daughters of Kenny and Debbie Hahs and the granddaughters of Melba Moore and Ines Hahs, all of Sedgewickville.
Local students receive President's Scholarship
Mika D. Williamson of Morley, Mo., and Elliott J. Swoboda of Cape Girardeau have been awarded President's Scholarships to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2002-03 school year.
Williamson is a 2002 graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School. She is the daughter of Mary Lou Dell of Morley and Mike Williamson of Farmington, Mo. She plans to major in physical education at Southeast.
Swoboda is a 2002 graduate of Central High School. He is the son of Stuart and Kathy Swoboda of Cape Girardeau.
Bonner receives Missouri Leadership Award
Elizabeth A. Bonner of Cape Girardeau has been awarded a Missouri Leadership Award to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2002-03 school year.
Bonner is a 2002 graduate of Central High School. She is the daughter of Sandra Bonner of Cape Girardeau. She plans on majoring in business at Southeast.
Hood participates in World Affairs Seminar
Will Hood, a student at Central High School, attended the 26th annual World Affairs Seminar hosted by the University of Wisconsin -- Whitewater June 9-14.
The seminar was host to 1,000 students from around the world who wanted to gain a better understanding of world problems and current world issues.
Jackson alum graduates from Davidson College
Charles P. Waldron of Jackson, Mo., recently graduated from Davidson College in Davidson, N.C.
Waldron is the son of Kenneth Waldron of Jackson and Norma Waldron of Roswell, Ga.
While at Davidson College, Waldron participated in the Army ROTC and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineers.
Buehrle selected as student academic mentor
Mark Buehrle of Cape Girardeau has been selected as a student academic mentor at Oklahoma State University for the 2002-03 academic year.
He will be working with OSU President James Halligan to help freshmen and transfer students adjust to university life.
Buehrle is the son of Tony and Donna Buehrle of Cape Girardeau.
Clark given academic performance scholarship
Katie Clark has been awarded a Women in Engineering and Science Scholarship to attend the University of Missouri -- Rolla.
She also received the Aid Association for Lutherans/ Lutheran Brotherhood All-College Scholarship.
Clark is a 2002 graduate of Jackson High School. She is the daughter of Allen and Joyce Clark of Gordonville, Mo. She is currently majoring in engineering.-- From staff reports
Kiblinger finalist in Pre-Teen America program
Theresa Kiblinger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Kiblinger of Cape Girardeau, has been selected as a finalist in the Pre-Teen Missouri Scholarship and Recognition Program to be held Aug. 30 through Sept.. 2 at the Capital Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City, Mo.
Local student named to president's list
Sarah Belcher of Cape Girardeau recently was named to the Union University presidents list in Jackson, Tenn.
Local students honored with awards
Chad Pender and Molly Williams, students at the Sikeston Career and Technology Center, won the Missouri State VICA Skills USA team competition in television production in April.
The team advanced to the national competition at Central Missouri State University in June.
Pender was also named to the Who's Who Among High School Students.
Pender is the son of Jim and Rhonda Pender of Benton, Mo., and a senior at Kelly High School.
Williams is a senior at Richland High School.
Brian Pender, also the son of Jim and Rhonda Pender, was named to the Who's Who Among High School Students.
He is a 2002 graduate of Kelly High School.
