The Southeast Missourian asked people if the election of Bill Clinton would affect their decision making and if they expect any sweeping changes.

TIM TANZ: "I feel that we are going to have to give him a chance. He's in for four years, and we'll have to see what he can do. I think he is going to follow through on some of his promises. Let's hope he can keep his energy up over the entire four years."

DENNIS HORMAN: "I don't think the election of Bill Clinton is going to affect the way I think or there will be any sweeping changes immediately. But hopefully, over the period of the next four years, we will see changes in a positive manner."

GENA HOFER: "The election of Clinton has not affected the way I think or make decisions. I believe that the president is one man and that the decisions are still being made by the people. Should health care be socialized, that would affect our lives, because my husband is a dentist."

HERB SEYER: "Of the men we had to choose from, how the people of the United States could pick a person like Clinton over George Bush bothers me. I'm worried about his moral views. He seems to want to satisfy everyone. I also worry about taxes and his program to get more jobs like he did in Arkansas. This is not what the country needs."

JOHN SCHNICKER: "It brought home the fact that America's voice can be heard when they think things need a change. However, a lot of us took for granted the Republicans were going to win. I think a lot of people woke up too late election night with the one-sided victory."

SUSAN HO: "I'm not sure how he will do on foreign affairs because he does not have any history on international issues. He talks about bringing back jobs to the United States, which is good for America, (but) this could mean a lack of jobs for the rest of the world."
