The Southeast Missourian asked seniors at Notre Dame High School for their thoughts about the future as they approach graduation.
Jason Vanderpool: "I'm planning to go to college. I think we need to get things straightened out on the political scene, with peace and the deficit. I think my generation will do a lot toward these things and for ecology."
Ann Tygett: "This is a time for people to find their place in life and to decide if they want to pursue a career or just bum around. I'm going to college. I would like to find opportunities in a bigger city and make my mark in life."
Evie Beussink: "It's kind of scary but also exciting. I feel that my generation will be able do the things that need to be changed. I'm leaving home to go to college, so I'm a little nervous about it, but I'm also excited."
Rick Fehr: "Just to get out, it's a little different that you're finally on your own. I'll go to college here for at least a year. I'm planning on going into criminal justice and work in a larger city. I feel it would be an adventure."
Julie Kirchdoerfer: "I plan go to college and pursue a career in the medical field, probably pediatrics. I would like to be able to teach others the things I have learned. I think everyone has something to contribute to the world."
David Pobst: "I feel that I will have more freedom, but that it carries more responsibility. I'll have to take care of myself more. I plan to be an electrical engineer. I like the challenge of setting goals and designing different things."
