The Southeast Missourian asked subscribers of TCI Cablevision about their viewing habits of the local cable access channel. Tonight at 6:30 at City Hall, the Cape Girardeau Cable TV Citizens Committee will hold a "town meeting" to receive input from residents about the local cable television service.
Shannon Tolbert: "Sometimes when I'm flipping channels I'll watch the doctor show. I watch the Ron Shumate show on Channel 13 also. I like to watch the messages on the channel that tell what's going on in the community. I'm pretty pleased with the service."
H.A. Wachter: "I don't watch it often. I have seen the Ask the Doctor program. It has given me some useful information. I have watched some of the Cape Central High School football games and also some city council meetings. I'm satisfied with the service."
Mary Lou Hinton: "I never watch it because I'm never home when it's on. What they really need is a good continuous, country music video channel which I had in three other cities where I've lived. For the price, the cable system here is the lousiest I've had."
Patricia Ragland: "I watch the city council a lot. It's great if you can't get to the meetings to see what other people think. It helps you to decide who to vote for in the elections. I can always go through the channels and find something that I would like to watch."
Carolyn Little: "I watch it sometimes. I've seen the doctor show. About a year ago, I had heard about an important topic that would be discussed at a city council meeting, so I made a point to watch it. There could be some better listings in the newspaper for the channel."
Terry Roth: "I've watched a little of the city council on it while flipping through channels. I would like to be able to see St. Louis Blues hockey on TV. Maybe they could put some Blues games on the cable access channel when they are on satellite, like the play-off games."
