The Southeast Missourian asked people if they thought Bill Clinton needed a new joke writer or if he should stick to running the country.
Tim Miller said, "I think his attempts at humor are about like his attempts at leadership ... they fall short. He's not in Arkansas anymore. I can't believe what this liberal Democrat said about Limbaugh coming to the aid of the woman only because her attacker was a black person."
LeeAnn Thompson said, "I think his career as a comic might be as long as his career as president if he doesn't take care of the country's needs and stop trying to be a pretty face in front of the cameras. Anyway, if he can't tell simple jokes I wonder what he can do."
Mike Graves said, "I think Bill Clinton should definitely get a new joke writer because lately he has not come up with one that is all that funny. Maybe he should quit trying to tell jokes and do something for us. The presidency is not suppose to be entertaining."
Gina Thomas said, "I think that people take jokes way too personal to begin with and I think if everybody would lighten up a little bit it would make everything a lot easier on everyone. I don't think a lot of times Clinton's jokes are meant to be taken that personal."
Tim Tanz said, "He should not have to make jokes in the first place. Besides he needs to stay away from jokes all together and worry more about running the presidency and less about trying to be funny in front of the cameras. If he would do that we would all benefit more."
Danny Lusk said, "I think Bill Clinton should stick with running the presidency because he isn't doing too well there anyway. He needs all the help he can get and if he is going to continue to try and tell jokes he had better get some help with them too."
