The Southeast Missourian asked people if they thought the city's recycling program would be more successful with the addition of tin and metal can pick up added to the service.
Levanon Wade said, "I feel like the program is good. Currently, I can stay under the three bag limit each week but if I couldn't, I would not mind paying the additional money for bags. I feel like everybody else should be willing to try the recycle program."
Amy Masterson said, "I don't think we should have to pay $2 a trash bag if we have more than three bags of trash each week. I believe in recycling. We have five people in my family and three are teenagers and three bags of trash isn't hard to have each week."
Doyne Guiling said, "I still don't agree with the once a week pick up even with recycling. There is just too much build up and it sets around. Then animals get in it if you don't keep it in your garage. But we have two in the family and we'll get by."
Jeff Wahl said, "I think the recycling program is good. Instead of throwing away the trash it can be reused. I don't see a problem with other people complying with it either. The three bag limit is a lot and most should be able to stay within it."
Allen Hammonds said, "A lot of my friends say it's a hassle right now trying to stay below the three bag limit. But if it helps the community I am all for it. I try to recycle as much as possible now and I think it is a good think for everyone to do."
Dena Golf said, "It's great they expanded it to tin cans. They need to expand it to include mixed paper too. I don't think any family needs to generate more than three bags a week if they recycle. We keep it down to two with a toddler and one in diapers."
