The Southeast Missourian asked people if they believed it was possible for O.J. Simpson to receive a fair trial, in light of the media blitz following the discovery of the bodies of his ex-wife and her male friend.
Erik Harper
No, I don't think he can get a fair trial. Once you color people's perceptions of an event, those perceptions aren't easily changed. The media have been controlling this since it started.
Derrick Roston
No, I don't think they can find an impartial jury for O.J. But I also think there's a lot more to all of this than they're telling us.
Farie McRaven
I think he (O.J.) should get what he deserves. He knew what he was doing when he killed those people. I think a jury will see that. I mean right is right and wrong is wrong, and what he did is wrong.
Henry McRaven
I hope a jury can see past his ballplayer image -- I don't really think the media coverage has anything to do with it. Just because he played football, he shouldn't get any special treatment.
Pete Brown
I think what the media have done in this case is wrong. Where are they going to find an impartial jury who hasn't been affected by everything in the news? I doubt the courts are going to be able to do that.
Alice Ireland
I think the media coverage has prejudiced everyone against this case. The information is so wide spread, there's not going to be anyone who hasn't heard something about what happened.
