The Southeast Missourian asked people if they think the Mississippi River will rise as high this year as it did last year.

Matt Winegardner, Neosho:

"There is absolutely no way to tell because we can't predict the weather more than a few weeks in advance, so there is really no way to tell at all if the river's going to get as high as last year."

Mark Carleton, Cape Girardeau:

"I really don't think it will get as high as last year I think that was pretty much of a fluke. It's coming up fast but I don't think it's going to get that high."

Glenn Fornkohl, Cape Girardeau:

"No, because we don't have a lot of snow up north. I don't believe it will."

Cathy Rehm, Ste. Genevieve:

"I hope not. But, if we keep getting rain, yes, for some reason I do because it (the flooding) is starting out early."

Terri Brown, Ste Genevieve:

"Yes, I think the flood is going to be as high (as last year), but I don't think it is going to have the impact it had (last year) because people are going to be more prepared for it this year."

Delores Swofford, Cape Girardeau:

"I do. They haven't fixed anything (levees). We're already getting real bad rain. I think it will flood again. I think it will get worse this year than it did last year."
