CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Schott & Company, Certified Public Accountants, has passed its quality review, conducted by Watkins, Watkins, & Keenan, Certified Public Accounts, of Memphis, Tenn.
Passage of the review entitles the firm to join the Private Company's Practice Section of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, which is the governing body of certified public accountants.
During a quality review, a firm's control on audits, accounting practices and procedures are examined. Also included is a review of the company's workpapers, filing procedures, and qualifications of personnel.
Schott & Co. will undergo its next peer review in 1993.
Schott & Co. was founded in 1959 by William R. Schott, CPA. Melvin J. Van de Ven, CPA, is partner in the firm and has been associated with it 28 years. The company employs 24 people, including its partners.
Schott & Co. has been named by the editors of CPA Digest as a CPA Digest 50 Award winner, which is presented to accounting firms across the nation that have demonstrated outside achievement and innovation in the accounting profession.
