FLORISSANT, Mo. -- St. Louis County prosecutors have filed child-endangerment charges against the parents of Xavier Robinson, a 3-year-old who was shot in the chest in December in Florissant.
Xavier died after being shot by a 15-year-old boy who was visiting Xavier's 16-year-old brother. Prosecutors on Thursday issued charges against Xavier's mother, 37-year-old Semaj Porter, and the father, 36-year-old Shawmane Robinson. Neither suspect is in custody, and police are searching for them.
Authorities say the parents saw the two teenagers playing with the gun the prior evening and did not take it away from them or check to determine whether it was loaded.
