CLAYTON, Mo. — A suburban St. Louis police officer shot during a traffic stop has been flown to a rehabilitation hospital in Colorado.
Ballwin police officer Michael Flamion, who’s in critical condition, was paralyzed from the neck down after he was shot July 8 during a traffic stop.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported the suspect, Antonio Taylor, is held on $1 million bail on charges of assault upon a police officer, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Ballwin Lt. John Bergfeld said officers from Ballwin, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and other departments gathered Wednesday at a Chesterfield airport to see Flamion off. Bergfeld said Flamion was transported in small aircraft modified as an ambulance.
Bergfeld did not disclose the name or location of the Colorado hospital.
