Kuss said he had several good prospects for "large, retail business," on the property. Kuss said the Kuss family abandoned the idea of a funeral chapel on the property when a zoning request was rejected a second time in May 1989.

Strong opposition from neighborhood residents resulted in rejection of the funeral home. Also cited were concerns about possible traffic problems resulting from funeral processions on Route K.
