Ted Loso, instructor of industrial technology at Southeast Missouri State University, has been named "Educator of the Year" by the St. Louis chapter of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME).
"This selection is to honor your commitment in furthering the promotion of manufacturing principles for the benefit of our community and our Society," said Jeanette M. Fox, chapter chairperson.
The announcement was made March 7 at the chapter's "Installation and Awards Nite" in St. Louis.
The annual award is given in recognition of substantial contributions to the Society, for outstanding contributions and participation in programs that enhance the manufacturing engineering profession and civic activities that contribute to the growth of the community and country.
Loso is the first person from Southeast to receive the award.
Last spring, Loso spearheaded the chartering of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers Student Chapter 208 on the Southeast campus. About 80 students were inducted.
