Before they began lining up for a chance to place first, second or third in various challenges including wheelchair races, a hoop toss, washers, bowling and more, a parade was held with participants celebrating this year's "Mardi Gras" theme. Area nursing homes created images with props and costumes representing the theme to make a winning impression on the judges.

A trophy was awarded to the nursing facility that won the most medals. This year's recipient was Heartland Care and Rehab Center of Cape Girardeau.

There was a dance contest with music provided by Uncle Bob's Band, musical entertainment by Beth Sessions, a hog calling contest and a luncheon provided by several sponsors.
