He'll be joined by Violet, 28-year-old female orangutan. She's expected to arrive later this month from the San Diego Zoo.

The female orangutan's arrival is crucial for Rusti, who has lived alone in captivity, mostly in small cages.

Rusti was supposed to stay at the zoo in a 600-square-foot cage for only six months after arriving in Honolulu in 1997.
