At the Second Quarter Conference of the East Missouri District in St. Louis on Jan. 9-10, Dixie Moore of the Jackson Noon Optimist Club was recognized for her outstanding achievement in promoting ABC (Always Buckle Children in the Backseat) Program coordinated by Optimist International. The club achieved second place out of 4,200 clubs.
The club was recognized for achieving fifth place out of 68 clubs in the District Achievement and Awards Contest for 1996-97 Optimist Year.
Beverly Nelson, Moore and LaDonia Beggs were awarded Star Performer pins by Gov. Henry Adams. Anita Sievers achieved second place status as Lt. Governor of Zone 3.
Nelson, as president, was recognized for the club's Outstanding Membership Achievement in the first quarter.
Beggs was recognized for being the number one sponsor of new members for Zone 3 during the first quarter.
The Noon Optimist Club was organized in 1991 as a service club with the motto "Friend of Youth."
