One victim remains in serious condition after an early morning stabbing in the 100 block of North Fountain Street in Cape Girardeau. Sgt. Jason Selzer said that at 12:28 a.m. officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the area. When officers arrived on the scene they found one victim there and learned another was already in a Cape Girardeau hospital.
Selzer said the victims told police they were stabbed during a confrontation with the male suspect whom they know. Selzer said the suspect is not in custody at this time.
Selzer said police have applied for charges on the suspect for first degree assault and armed criminal action.
An investigation continues into the matter.
