One victim remains in serious condition after a Monday morning stabbing in the 100 block of North Fountain Street in Cape Girardeau.
At 12:28 a.m. officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the area, Sgt. Jason Selzer said. When officers arrived on the scene they found one victim and learned another was already in a Cape Girardeau hospital.
Selzer said the victims told police they were stabbed during a confrontation with a male suspect whom they know. Selzer said the suspect is not in custody at this time.
Selzer said police have applied for charges on the suspect for first-degree assault and armed criminal action.
An investigation continues into the matter.
