SIKESTON, Mo. -- An unidentified 21-year-old man was treated for stab wounds Saturday at Saint Francis Medical Center, according to a statement issued by the Sikeston Department of Public Safety.
Police and the Scott County Ambulance Service were called around 3 a.m. Saturday to 402 Sunset St. to help the victim, who had several stab wounds in his upper back, according to police.
The people living in the home told police the victim woke them by pounding on the door, asking for help.
Sikeston detectives who investigated the crime said it appeared the victim was chased by the offenders and then stabbed near West North and Sunset streets. The preliminary investigation led officers to some suspects, who were interviewed.
Just before 6 a.m., officers arrested a 42-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy in connection with the stabbing. Charges had not been filed by press time; the suspects' names were being withheld.
The victim was flown to Saint Francis Medical Center and treated for his injuries. His wounds were not life-threatening, and he was later released.
The investigation continues and more arrests are possible, according to police spokesman Sgt. Jim McMillen.
