KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- One of the few living World War I veterans has turned 107.

The National World War I Museum in Kansas City says Frank Woodruff Buckles is believed to be one of only two surviving U.S. veterans from the "war to end all wars."

Buckles was born in 1901 near the northwest Missouri town of Bethany. He lied about his age to get into the Army and was shipped overseas.

Buckles drove motorcycles, cars and ambulances in England and France. He also guarded German prisoners during the occupation.

Buckles was celebrating his birthday Friday at the 330-acre cattle ranch he owns near Charles Town, W.Va.
