One dead in Cairo, Ill., shooting

CAIRO, Ill. -- One person is dead after an early morning shooting Saturday in Cairo.

The Cairo Police Department and the Alexander County Sheriff's Department responded to a fatal shooting in the McBride Place housing complex operated by the Alexander County Housing Authority.

The name of the victim is not being released at this time, according to police chief Gary Hankins.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
