This week the Southeast Missourian asked, "How do you feel about the proposal that would demolish turn-of-the-century homes to build a new federal courthouse?"

"As it is proposed here in town, I am against it. I would prefer they look at the old St. Francis Hospital and build it there."

"I think we should preserve our older homes."

"I really wouldn't want to see them destroyed. I would wait for a while and see if they could find another place."

"I don't think it's a very good idea. I think they've got enough other places to build. It shouldn't take someone's home away from them."

"The way I feel about it is that we don't need to destroy the heritage and the older homes of Cape. It should be somewhere else."
