With St. Patrick's Day this Friday, the Southeast Missourian asked students at May Greene School what they knew about leprechauns.
Alexis DePree: "A leprechaun is something small, and it likes gold and rainbows. It wears black shoes, white vest, green hat and green shirt. It was something made up."
Christina Wolford: "It's something little and looks funny. It has big feet and is green. I think he does magical things. He's supposed to help people."
Garmeisha Terry: "It's one of these mean things. If you don't give him gold, he'll chase after you. Some are nice if you give them a pot of gold."
Max Brand: "It wears a green shirt, green pants, black shoes and has a gold buckle and gold buttons. It's make-believe. If you have gold, he'll take it from you."
David Burke: "It's a little green person, but he's make-believe. He's bad, and he messes up our room. He helps us celebrate St. Patrick's Day."
