The Southeast Missourian asked people what they thought about Dr. Kala Stroup, president of Southeast Missouri State University, becoming the state's new commissioner of higher education. The Southeast Missourian asked people what they thought about Dr. Kala Stroup, president of Southeast Missouri State University, becoming the state's new commissioner of higher education.

Dr. Charles Kupchella:

"I think it's wonderful for the state of Missouri. She has a lot of solid experience that will bring great energy and enthusiasm as well as savvy to that job."

Steve Nelson:

"Dr. Stroup is very qualified for the position. I think she will do a good job for the state as well as Southeast Missouri State. She will be missed, but she's made a wise move for her career."

"It's a wonderful opportunity for the president, and it speaks very well of our university and its leadership. She has laid some great groundwork for some wonderful things to continue, and I feel certain they will."

"While I was a student at Southeast, Dr. Stroup was always helpful to me. We hate to see her go, but I'm sure she will do a lot of work there that will help the university too."

"Dr. Stroup has done a lot for the university as president, but she will also be able to help Southeast at the state level. Her experience here will help her with the needs of Missouri in higher education."
