This week the Southeast Missourian asked, "How do you feel about sports fans who tear down goal posts, overturn cars, etc., after their team has won a sporting event?"
Michelle Mueller, Cape Girardeau
"Sad and disgusted. It's disrespectful ... society's values are falling apart."
Jennifer Michael, Cape Girardeau
"I think it's disrespectful to the team and to the city that they're from. It shows their ignorance."
Mitch Shelby, Cape Girardeau
"They get caught up in the atmosphere of things. Sometimes it's peer pressure and showoff."
Brent Anderson, Cape Girardeau
"You see it most of the times with teams that don't win so it's a new experience ... they think they should do something out of the ordinary since their team did something out of the ordinary by winning they're going to do something out of the ordinary by tearing the goal post down or throwing cars over. Personally, I think it's ridiculous ... they're excited and most of the time alcohol is involved so you see it quite often. It has become the norm I guess of teams that don't win a lot."
Donnie McClinton, Cape Girardeau
"I don't think they should do it because it is wrong ... They're just showing that they rule since they won. After a team won they always think they are the best you know. It's just a good feeling even though they shouldn't do it they do it anyway. They (the sports fans) can control it if they want to."
