This week the Southeast Missourian asked, "What do you think of the proposed one-quarter cent sales tax for Cape Girardeau to be used to increase Cape Girardeau's potable water supply?"
Carla Young, Cape Girardeau
"I think I would go ahead and vote for it. I think it would be fine since it would go ahead and pay off the bond. With Cape getting bigger I think we need to take care of the water supply."
Dewey Christian, Cape Girardeau
"I don't think so. I don't think I'd vote for it. I'm a senior citizen and if they start cutting me on Medicare and social security it's going to be too hard on me."
Dustin Michael, Cape Girardeau
"If it helps to pay off the $25 million bond issue and helps enlarge the water plant, I'm all for it because you know if you can't treat the water ... I mean water's kind of important right?"
Bob Kocak, Cape Girardeau
"I think so. We should get a tax of one-quarter of a cent or else we'll run out of water."
Lisa Webb, Cape Girardeau
"I agree that we do need the increase (in tax). I would vote for it because if we don't we could run into trouble running short of the demand that we're producing in the city."
