The St. Louis Cardinals baseball team spent a considerable amount of money in the off season to hire several high-priced players and a new manager. What do you think the Cardinals' chances are of making it to the World Series?

"I think they've got a pretty good chance. I think it's about time they get back. I think they'll do OK. They need a little help and I think they're getting it."

"I think they're playing a lot better and I think they're playing with more enthusiasm...with the new ballpark and the new manager. Guys like Ron Gant especially...they're just bringing new life to the Cardinals. So far, the way they're playing I thing they're going to have a pretty good chance."

"I think they have the best opportunity they've had since they were there last time. I think they have just as good a chance as they had in '85. They have one of the best pitching staffs they've had since Bob Gibson."

Kevin Cornwell, Cape Girardeau

"I don't know if they will make it to the World Series but I bet they make it to the playoffs. I think Tony is a very good coach and they did spend the money to go out and get the players they needed to pick the new system because a lot of them came from the A's with them.

"I think they are a lot better now. I think we've taken everybody from California. They're going to be mad at Missouri because we've taken their football team and now we're taking all of their players from their California team. But with Gant and the new pitchers that they've got I think it's going to be a real good lineup this year."
