The Southeast Missourian asked fourth-graders at West Lane Elementary School why their mothers are special. Mother's Day is Sunday.
Shannon Cobb: "My mother comforts me and helps me be the best that I can be. She cooks, cleans and loves me very much. She is there when I'm sad and when mad. She is very special."
Ashley Holt: "My mommy is pretty, and she is a good example to me. She holds me when I'm sick. She comforts me when I feel bad. She cooks good, the best. She's the coolest mom on the planet, and I mean what I say."
Zachary Stanfield: My mother is special to me because she has taught me to do the right things. One way she is special is that I have a mom who raised me. Some kids don't have a mom. That's why she is special to me."
Katie Davis: "She always gets me clothes, toys and shelter, and she loves me. At night, she reads me stories, and in the morning she gets me up with a nice warm kiss and a tender loving hug. She's not the only mother like that. Moms all over the world are like that."
Cameron Keller: "My mother is special to me because she is the one who took care of me, and bought the right kind of food for me. She took me to some places where I wanted to go. She loves me and would not trade me for all the money in the world."
