This week the Southeast Missourian asked, "What do you think of proposed legislation that would allow Death-row inmates a stay of execution if they donated a kidney or bone marrow?"

"I really don't believe so. If they are sentenced to death then I think they should get what they are sentenced."

"I think that that would be great because there is a shortage of organ donors all over the United States and if they could help somebody out for the crimes they commited then that would be great."

"I think that's a good idea because they're still being punished by life imprisonment and there doing some good for the community or the state."

"I kind of agree that it's just kind of silly. Because if you're on Death row that's something you shouldn't be able to take the technicality out of. They've (the state) decided that capital punishment is appropriate and they should go through with it. The intentions are good but I don't think it's appropriate."

"I don't agree with it. I think if they receive the death penalty then that's what they should get. What they do afterwards doesn't really matter. They've already commited a crime that was serious enough to get the death penalty."
